APUSH Summer Reading Assignment

Ms. Valentine requests all aP US history students complete the following summer assignment. You can download the PDF or add it to your Google Drive here.





Students: Back up your files & data!

Laptops will be erased over the summer.  You need to backup to another flash drive or external hard drive anything you want to keep.

Files to consider
  • school documents/projects
  • photos
  • movies
  • music
  • Safari bookmarks

Backup to Flash Drive / External HD
  • Open Finder, go to file or folder and drag items to flash/external drive or copy file or folder and paste file to flash/external drive
  • Holding the Command key while clicking on files or folders will allow you to select multiple files
  • To select multiple files in a row, select first file, hold Shift, select last file

IPhoto Picture Backup for entire library
  • Copy library to flash drive or drag to burn folder
  • Library is located in Finder, Pictures, name:  iPhoto Library
  • Copy to flash/external drive or burn

iPhoto Picture Backup to CD or DVD for selected photos
  • Only to archive photos for viewing in iPhoto (can not be viewed on a Windows computer)
  • In iPhoto, Select photo library, albums, or individual photos
  • Choose Share>Burn
  • Insert CD or DVD disc in an external CD drive
  • Type a name for disc
  • Click Burn button
  • Click the Burn button in the Burn Disc dial

Creating a CD to viewed by Windows or a photo processing company
  • In iPhoto select the albums or photos you want to burn to disc
  • Select album or photos and choose File>Export to export to a folder on your computer
  • Follow above directions for burning to a CD or DVD

Backup iMovie to another file format
  • Open iMovie and select movie, Share>Export Movie to desired location
  • Copy file to flash drive or burn

Backup Bookmarks in Safari
  • Select File>Export bookmarks
  • Select and save to desired location
  • Copy file to flash drive or burn

Backup from iTunes library and purchases to flash/external drive
  • Copy iTunes Folder to flash/external drive
  • Library is located in Finder, username, Music, name:  iTunes
  • Copy entire folder to flash/external drive

Deauthorize a computer for iTune purchases
  • To play purchases from iTunes Store, you must authorize the computer.  You can have up to 5 authorized computers at a time.  Before you turn your computer in, you need to deauthorize your computer.
  • Store>Deauthorize This Computer

Open any application and choose Help from menu and type in backup.

Students will keep book bags over the summer but you must bring it to deployment or pay $45 for a new one to get your laptop back in August!

LAPTOP DEPLOYMENT INFORMATION FOR 2014-­2015

RISING 4TH GRADE­ - 12TH GRADE STUDENTS

All rising 4th through 12th grade students in MGSD receive a laptop for use during the school year. For the 2014­2015 school year, deployment of laptops will be different than in the past. ALL rising 4th­12th grade students will attend deployment at the MHS Magnolia Campus, 160 S. Magnolia St. Deployment days and times are as follows:

Monday, August 18, 2014 8:30 am - 7:30 pm
 Tuesday, August 19, 2014 8:30 am -­ 7:30 pm 
Wednesday, August 20, 2014 8:30 am -­ 7:30 pm 
Saturday, August 23, 2014 10:00 am -­ 3:30 pm

Doors will CLOSE at 7:30 pm on Monday­ - Wednesday and 3:30 pm on Saturday

To minimize crowds and long lines, suggested times have been established for students and parents/guardians to attend based on school and position in the alphabet. See information below for preferred day and time. However, if these times are not convenient, you may come any time. In addition, if you have multiple children, they may attend deployment at the same time.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
  • ●  ALL students must attend with a parent/guardian.
  • ●  ALL returning students must bring their school­-issued book bag to deployment to receive their laptop. (If you do not have your book bag, you will not be able to attend deployment and receive your laptop; or you must purchase a new one for $45.00.)
  • ●  Rising 4th grade and new students to MGSD will receive a new bookbag.
  • ●  All students must pay a $50 Usage Fee. We STRONGLY encourage you to pay online ahead of time and bring a copy of your receipt to deployment. This will drastically reduce your wait time. Visit www.mgsd.k12.nc.us and click on Online

  •  ANY and ALL outstanding fines must be paid before a laptop will be issued. (A reminder letter about fines will be mailed to students/parents over the summer).
  • ●  ALL students and parents/guardians must attend a short information session.

The Senior Awards Ceremony will take place Thursday night at 6:30 PM at the Mooresville High School auditorium. Please join us to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2014. Seniors need to arrive at 6:00 PM in cap and gown. We will also live stream the event on our website, www.Mooresvillehighschool.net if you are unable to attend.

The Underclassman Awards Ceremony is TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. at the MHS Auditorium.  Please join us as we celebrate the success of our students.  If you can't attend, you can watch online via live streaming.

AP English 12 Summer Reading Assignment

Ms. Davala has provided the Summer Reading Assignments for AP English 12.  You can access the folder with assignments and materials via Google Drive.

Track Banquet

The Track Banquet will be May 27 at Magnolia Cafeteria,  6:30 till 8 pm.  

Everyone is invited to share their favorite dessert with the team.   The medals and patches for County and Conference Meet will be given out along with other awards.

You need to return the uniform you were assigned in order to receive a T- shirt to Coach Tippett (Her room is 201 Magnolia).

If you did not submit your size of t-shirt in late April you will not receive one.  

Freshmen track team members are to bring the drinks which would be one or two 2 liters of their favorite drinks.

This Thursday's review for World History will be a showing of the movie War Horse after school at 2:30 in Ms. Van Dyke's room, #201 at the Main Campus.  This movie is about World War 1 and will help you cover the  important concepts as well as enjoy the film.

Congrats NJROTC

The Admiral's Cup is back in Mooresville!  Congratulations the to NJROTC Athletic Team for a dominating performance Friday evening at St Stephens HS in Hickory, beating the 2nd place team by more 600 points (the equivilent of more than 2 perfect score team members) !!!!! We also had the top Female athlete (Samantha Diener) and 5 of our Males tied for top athlete honors (John Kremar, Chris Terry, Dylan Hiatt, Houston Hensley and Zach Mercer)!
